The purpose of the Port Perry Angels is to provide athletes with the opportunity to compete at a high level in a positive, team-focused environment. The organization promotes commitment, sportsmanship, and pride in representing the Angels both on and off the field.
Founded in 1993 by Rick Finlay, the Port Perry Angels Softball Association began with a single team and has grown into a respected competitive fastpitch organization supporting teams from U11 through Senior divisions. Over the years, the Angels have built a strong reputation for player development, teamwork, and representing Port Perry at the provincial, national, and international levels.
Throughout his coaching career, Rick Finlay led Angels teams to competitions around the world and helped establish one of Ontario’s most successful girls’ fastpitch programs. Under his leadership, the organization earned 3 Eastern Canadian Championships, 2 National Championships, and 7 Ontario Provincial titles, while also capturing medals at 15 additional Eastern Canadian and National Championship events.
The Port Perry Angels have also produced athletes who have competed at the highest levels of the sport. Four former Angels players went on to represent Team Canada at the Olympic Games, while 13 players earned spots with Team Canada and 5 advanced to Team Ontario.
Today, the Angels continue to provide girls and women with the opportunity to play competitive fastpitch softball in a positive and supportive environment, while proudly representing the community of Port Perry across Ontario and beyond.
